Scary stories, Superstition, folklore & belief

Superstitions were once supremely strong in Ulster and this talk examines many of the beliefs of a bygone era as well as exploring their origins.

 

Learn more about the background of bogies, fairies, ‘blinking’ of cattle, banshees, foundation sacrifice, death folklore and other beliefs.

 

The talk uses material from the 19th century as well as examining literary remains of our superstitions in both Ulster and Scotland.

 

For added value there are a few scary stories involving witches, ghosts and strange goings on!
